2 men charged following police chase involving stolen vehicle in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police say two men have been charged following a police chase Wednesday morning.

WPS says around 1:18 a.m., officers reportedly noticed a white Ford 350 that was believed to have been reported stolen, driving through the Varsity View neighbourhood.

After the truck was noticed, police attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled.

With the help of Air 1 tracking the truck and multiple stop sticks, police were able to stop the Ford after a 40-minute chase.

After the Ford was stopped, officers took two men into custody. At the time, police also found and seized a small quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine.

Officers were then able to confirm that the Ford had been reported stolen from Portage la Prairie.

Since, a 34-year-old man and a 46-year-old, both from Winnipeg, have been charged with possession of a scheduled substance, and possession of property obtained by a crime.

The 34-year-old is also facing charges of dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight while pursued by a peace officer, possession of an identity document, and six counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order.
