Body of 3rd boater missing on Lake Winnipeg found

By News Staff

The body of the third and final boater still missing on Lake Winnipeg was found on Sunday.

Authorities say the body of Delaney McGillvary, 29, was found, putting an end to a search that began at the end of June.

The body of 31-year-old Tyler Ballantyne was recovered June 29, while the body of Rayden Dick was found July 17.

Their deaths have left the Misipawistik Cree Nation heartbroken.

The three men were returning from a fishing trip in the lake’s northern basins on June 27 when they stopped to hunt moose.

RCMP say the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART) and local searchers helped during the search.

“The RCMP would like to thank all the people, communities and organizations that came together to assist during this tragic time,” the police force said in a news release.
