Winnipeg police looking for man who threw metal object at 2 officers

Winnipeg police are looking for a 44-year-old man who allegedly assaulted officers on July 18.

WPS says around 5:50 p.m. Thursday, officers were reportedly engaging with members of the public from their marked police vehicle along Sherbrook Street.

During this time, police say a man approached the vehicle and threw a metal object through the open passenger window, hitting both officers in the upper body.

Both officers suffered minor injuries and were treated at a hospital.

A suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Waylon Joseph Paul. Police say a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Paul has been described at 5’1″ tall and weighs roughly 211 pounds. He has a larger build and has short, dark-coloured hair.

WPS says he is a high-risk offender and is considered dangerous.
