By The Canadian Press

A Manitoba man was hospitalized on the weekend after the plane he was piloting crashed in a rural area north of Winnipeg.

Mounties say officers responded to the crash in a forested area near the rural municipality of Bifrost on Sunday afternoon.

Police say the crop-dusting plane was spraying a field when one of the wings hit a tree and the plane crashed.

The 33-year-old pilot and lone occupant suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada was notified.
