By News Staff

A man is facing a series of charges after a break-in Friday evening.

Winnipeg police say they were called to the 300 block of Larsen Avenue close to 7 p.m. for the incident.

When they arrived, they say the suspect fled the home, but officers were able to apprehend him.

Police found bear spray and a phone stolen from the home on the man, along with ID that he used to identify himself despite it belonging to another person.

After he was arrested, the suspect pretended to experience a medical event and assaulted an officer when they tried to help him.

The officer along with the residents of the home were uninjured.

Ricky Clarence Arthur Brightnose, 35, from York Factory First Nation is facing numerous charges including breaking and entering, possession of a weapon, and two counts of being outstanding while having a warrant out for his arrest.

He’s been detained in custody.
