Suspect on bike crashes into, stabs woman downtown in unprovoked attack: Winnipeg police

By News Staff

Winnipeg police say a woman in her 30s was stabbed in an unprovoked attack downtown on Monday afternoon.

The Winnipeg Police Service says the victim was walking on Bannatyne Ave toward King Street after work around 4 p.m. when she was hit from behind by a woman on a bicycle. Police allege the suspect then stabbed the victim and rode away.

“The victim ran to a bus for safety, made it home, and then went to the hospital for treatment,” WPS said in a news release.

Police do not believe the suspect and victim knew each other.

The WPS major crimes unit is investigating.
