3 charged after armed carjacking in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police have charged an adult a two teens in connection to a carjacking Wednesday morning.

The WPS says around 5 a.m. on July 10, officers responded to a report of an assault and a carjacking with a gun.

Officers attended the scene along Cathedral Avenue, where they spoke to a 52-year-old woman, who explained that she was assaulted by one of the individuals during the incident.

WPS says officers were able to arrest two teens and one adult in the area without incident. Officers also found and seized various controlled substances and a small amount of cash.

Police say the gun in the incident is believed to be a BB gun, however, it was discarded as the suspect fled the scene.

Through an investigation, police were also able to learn that the tro had damaged a 2016 Kia Forte along Machray Avenue, and a 2020 Kia Soul near Church Avenue and Powers Street.

WPS has since charged an 18-year-old with armed robbery, two counts of mischief, three counts of possession of a scheduled substance, and possession of more than 30 grams of cannabis in a public place.

Police have also charged a 16-year-old with armed robbery, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and two counts of mischief.

Additionally, a 17-year-old was charged with armed robbery using a restricted firearm.
