Firearms, stolen vehicles seized from Winnipeg man: police

By News Staff

Police say a Winnipeg man is facing 21 charges after officers allegedly seized firearms and a large quantity of property from a home in the Brooklands neighbourhood on Thursday.

The Winnipeg Police Service says an off-duty RCMP officer spotted a previously stolen vehicle parked in front of a home on Ross Avenue West around 9:15 p.m.

The vehicle was reported stolen on Tuesday from a parking lot on Sargent Avenue. Police say the vehicle was full of personal belongings like luggage and identification belonging to the owner.

Police allege a man armed with a machete exited the home and confronted the off-duty officer, who identified himself. The man reportedly retreated inside the home.
