Neil Young cancels Winnipeg show, other Canadian tour dates

By Charles Brockman

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have announced the cancellation of all remaining shows on their ‘Love Earth’ tour until September, including a Winnipeg concert originally set for July 17.

The 78-year-old singer-songwriter announced Wednesday the tour is taking a “big unplanned break” after falling ill.

“The Love Earth Tour has been a great experience for us so far,” Young wrote in a post on his website.

“When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob [Theatre], we had to stop. We are still not fully recovered.”

The group added it will “try to play some of the dates” when the members are ready to rock again.

Young was scheduled to play at Winnipeg’s Blue Cross Park.

Shows in Burnaby, Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa were also cancelled.

Ticketmaster claims an automatic refund will be issued to all ticket holders.

In the post to his website, Young and members of Crazy Horse apologized to fans and thanked them for their understanding.
