Winnipeg police looking into woman’s homicide

Winnipeg police say a woman from Dauphin River First Nation has been killed.

WPS says around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a report of an injured woman along Balmoral Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where she later died.

Police were able to identify the woman as 29-year-old Norma Jean Sumner. Sumner was a member of the Dauphin River First Nation, but had been living in Winnipeg.
