Man charged in fatal stabbing in downtown Winnipeg

Winnipeg police have charged a 36-year-old man in connection to a fatal stabbing earlier this week.

Police say officers were called to Kennedy Street near Sargent Avenue around 11:50 a.m. on June 11, for the report of an injured man who had been assaulted.

Ricky Dwayne Mancheese, 49, was taken to hospital in critical condition by paramedics, where he died.

Through an investigation, police were able to identify 36-year-old Matthew Gerald Tomack Pelletier as a suspect in the incident.

Around 6 p.m. on June 12, police took Pelletier into custody, and he has been charged with second-degree murder.
