Winnipeg police are reminding the public to not use drones over crowds after multiple were spotted during White-Out Street Party Celebrations on Sunday.
Private drones have been banned from being operated near bystanders, crowds, emergency operations, and events by Transport Canada.
Laws and regulations are in place for safety reasons, which include a drone’s loss of control or malfunction that could pose a serious risk of injury to the public.
Violation of the regulations could result in fines, penalties, and legal consequences.
WPS says the individuals who were operating the private drones on Sunday were located, identified, and are being investigated.
Drone owners are urged to brush up on the regulations, which can be found on the Transport Canada website.
