Man in custody in connection to William Whyte neighborhood homicide

Winnipeg police have taken a man into custody in connection to the death of Eric Yuefi Fong.
WPS responded to a report of a seriously injured man near Selkrik Avenue and McKenzie Street Thursday morning.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the man and began providing medical treatment before he was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
Through an investigation, police learned Fong and another man were walking near Selkrik Ave. and McKenzie St., when they were confronted by another individual.
Police say Fong was shot, and the man he was with fled the scene while being chased by the shooter.
Around 5 p.m., officers took 21-year-old Shayden Duck McFayden into custody.
Police are looking for the man who was walking with Fong at the time of the incident. At this time he has not been identified and police are wanting to ensure his wellbeing.
