Winnipeggers have plenty of ways to join in the whiteout this postseason

With the start of the Stanley Cup playoffs just around the corner, local businesses are hoping for a deep run from the Winnipeg Jets. Kurt Black reports.

In just a few days, the whiteout wave will takeover Donald Street for the Winnipeg Jets’ opening game of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Whether you’re planning on cheering on the Jets from Canada Life Centre or elsewhere in the city, there is certainly no shortage of ways you can show off your Jets pride this postseason.

For those looking to grab a bite-out for the whiteout, the Hargrave Street Market at True North Plaza will be the place to be this postseason partnering with a mystery Jets defenceman for a new concept that will launch ahead of game one.

“I will say there is a couple of fours in the name which is really good, and it’s just one of those things for the downtown. 5,000 people over, 14,000 in the building, 1,500 people here all for the right reasons all cheering on a time that is on fire just couldn’t be more pleased and excited,” said Bobby Mottola, owner of Academy Hospitality.

Meantime down on Isabel St., there is no better place to celebrate a Jets Playoff Victory than over at Celly’s Pizza, where owner Marc Sheldon is offering a Stanley Cup Special that includes everything a watching party needs for just 50 dollars plus tax.

“I’m super excited as it is going to be my first playoff so come on down, pizza, wings, nachos, drinks, come on down we got a great special,” said Sheldon.

“I’m thinking Winnipeg-Florida Stanley Cup, with Winnipeg winning.”

Over at Everyline Designs, whiteout gear is flying off the presses, literally. Co-Owner Rebacca Coutu has been designing playoff-themed gear for the past five years, and says they are ready to ensure everyone is ready come puck drop.

“Oh I have last-minute tickets and I don’t have anything to wear we are good with last-minute stuff, we have all of our white stuff to go, and we press it on the spot like we did for you and it will be ready to pick up,” said Coutu.

Now before the party gets started, the Jets will look to close out the regular season on a winning note, playing host to the Vancouver Canucks.
