Homicide police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Winnipeg man early Tuesday morning in the Daniel McIntyre neighbourhood.

Police say officers were in the area around 12:45 a.m. when they heard shots being fired.

Winnipeg police say a man with a gunshot wound was found near Furby Street and Cumberland Avenue.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he died. He was identified as 46-year-old Edison Leslie Erskine.
