Winnipeg homicide police are trying to identify a man they believe is linked to the death of a 25-year-old father last fall.

Daniel Raymond Garvey-Rodriquez was killed on Sept. 10, 2023, after a shooting on College Avenue.

He was found critically injured outside an apartment building, and later died in hospital.

On Wednesday, investigators released two images of a man on a bicycle wearing a red hoodie with a white maple leaf on the back. Police did not indicate if the man is a suspect or person of interest.

They are hoping anyone with information can contact police at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers.

Friends have described Garvey-Rodriquez as a great person who cared deeply for those around him.

“He had a big heart, for his mom too. He was always trying to take care of his mom, trying to help others around him,” longtime friend Jazzmine Felix told CityNews in September.

An eyewitness told CityNews that Garvey-Rodriquez stumbled out of this College Avenue apartment building – owned by the Penner family which owns several problematic buildings in the city — before collapsing on the grass outside. (Photo Credit: Morgan Modjeski, CityNews)
