Border officers seize almost 75kg of cocaine at Winnipeg airport

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) recently seized more than $9 million worth of cocaine, that was being brought into Canada through the Winnipeg International Airport.

On Feb. 9, officers identified a pair of unclaimed suitcases from a flight originating outside Canada.

After examining the suitcases, border officers found and seized 60 individually wrapped packages of suspected cocaine weighing just less than 75 kilograms.

The CBSA says it was the largest seizure at an airport in the Prairie region.

“Thanks to the quick thinking of officers at the Winnipeg International Airport, more than 75 kg of cocaine is not going to make it to Canadian streets where it could have injured or destroyed countless lives,” said Greg Valentine, director of Intelligence and Enforcement Operations Division in the Prairie Region.
