Manitoba’s police watchdog — the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) — says a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer has been charged in connection to a serious collision that happened in August 2023.
The IIU says according to a report, the Mountie was attempting to complete a traffic stop when the vehicle sped away. The fleeing vehicle continued down Inkster Boulevard, where it collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Keewatin Street.
As a result of the collision, three people were taken to hospital.

Through the investigation, it was determined “the officer’s attempt at pulling over a speeder resulted in a pursuit with speeds of 200 kilometres per hour through a residential area,” the IIU said in a statement.
“These speeds, coupled with the fact the officer did not make any attempt to mitigate the inherent risks of the pursuit, thus failing to comply with police policy, resulted in her not complying with Sec. 106(4) of the Highway Traffic Act.”
Const. Laurie Krulicki has been charged with failure to drive with due regard to safety.
