Man dead after altercation in Kirkfield community
Winnipeg Restaurant owner is dead and police major crimes are investigating following a physical altercation that turned fatal in the city on Wednesday evening.
WPS says around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an altercation involving two men outside a business along Portage Avenue near Greenarch Blvd.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found one man requiring medical attention. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Police have identified the man as Kyriakos Vogiatzakis, the owner of Cork & Flame. They add that an autopsy is pending.
WPS also noted a man believed to be connected was taken into custody.
On Thursday, a small sign was posted on the door of the eatery, saying it’s closed due to unforeseen circumstances, thanking people for their support.
Those who love the restaurant, like Steve Daniels, say the news is crushing. He was set to get food with a friend when he heard what happened.
“I pulled in and there were no cars around and I’m thinking what the heck,” said Daniels. “I’ve been coming here for years like I said and I’ve never had a bad meal.

“It just blows my mind that something like this would happen in St. James. It’s just unreal,” he added. “I’ve been coming here for years like I said and I’ve never had a bad meal.”
Vogiatzakis’ death came as a shock for many across Winnipeg, his family members confirming the death on Facebook Thursday afternoon, another post from family saying he’s being remembered as “the type of person that would do anything for anybody anytime anywhere” the posts garnering hundreds of messages of condolence.
