13 community centres receive funding for renovations

The City of Winnipeg says 13 community centres will be receiving funding for renovations through the City’s renovation grant program.

The grant program was put in place by the City in 2012 to allow community centres a place to apply for funding for facility repairs, upgrades, retrofits, safety improvements, and renovation projects.

“This program underscores our commitment to supporting the heart of our neighbourhoods – our community centres,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham in a statement.

“By investing in these renovation projects, we are not only enhancing the infrastructure of our community centres but also ensuring they remain busy and vibrant spaces for the benefit of all Winnipeggers.”

In total, the community centres will be receiving $836,739 for all the renovations.

The community centres receiving grants are:

  • Central Corydon
  • Dakota
  • Greendell Park
  • Heritage Victoria
  • Maples
  • Notre Dame
  • Red River
  • Riverview
  • Sinclair Park
  • Valour
  • Varsity View
  • Winakwa
  • Woodhaven

Every year the city has two intake periods, where centres can apply for grants. To date, over $16.6 million has been invested towards renovations.
