Winnipeg police charge 33-year-old following shooting Sunday morning

Winnipeg police say a 33-year-old is facing several charges following a shooting incident on Sunday.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 14, police responded to a report of a shooting out front of an establishment along Archibald Street.

Through initial stages of the investigation, police learned that the suspect had been removed from the establishment earlier in the evening, before he returned and shot at the entrance.

WPS says no one was injured in the shooting.

Police also learned he was at another establishment, where they took him into custody.

A search warrant was issued for the man’s vehicle, where officers found and seized a handgun.

Since, the 33-year-old man has been charged with six firearm-related charges.

Police also note the man was taken to hospital for minor injuries that occurred prior to his arrest, before he was detained in custody.
