18-year-old killed after running in front of vehicle: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say an 18-year-old has been killed following a vehicle-pedestrian collision Saturday morning.

Around 6 a.m. on Jan. 13, WPS responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Cecil Street.

Officers learned that the pedestrian had been taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

WPS says the driver remained at the scene and spoke with investigators.

Through the initial stages of the investigation, police learned the pedestrian was an 18-year-old man from Winnipeg.

It is believed that he had run in front of the vehicle when he was struck. Police note the driver did call 911 and provided emergency medical care until the ambulance arrived.
