Winnipeg police say officers from the bomb unit were dispatched to an apartment complex Thursday morning after receiving a report that explosives might have been found.
When the bomb unit arrived, officers were able to determine that there were commercial explosives. They were able to safely remove them.
During this time, Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Services was helping evacuate residents from the building.
The WPS says there were no signs that a detonation was imminent, and Major Crimes has taken over the investigation.
