Suspect in fatal 2022 Edmonton shooting arrested in Winnipeg: police

By News Staff

Edmonton police arrested a third suspect in connection to the mass shooting of “innocent bystanders” outside a lounge last year.

The March 12, 2022, shooting outside Edmonton’s Ertale Lounge at 124 Street and 118 Avenue killed 28-year-old Imbert George.

Seven other people were injured in the shooting – police identified one additional victim after previously claiming six others were injured.

Police believe the suspects fired roughly 70 rounds into a crowded area.

Edmonton police say Samatar Mohiadin, now 26, was arrested in Winnipeg Dec. 3 in a drug trafficking and firearm investigation. He was transported to Edmonton six days later and faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder.

Mohiadin is the third arrest made in the Ertale Lounge shooting investigation. Police previously arrested Mohamod Mohamod, 23, and Said Ibrahim, 24.

Edmonton Police Service investigators are still looking for 28-year-old Saed Osman, who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. Osman is among Canada’s most-wanted suspects. The national Bolo Program is offering a $75,000 reward – up from $50,000 last year – for information that leads to his arrest.

Police are also looking for a fifth unknown suspect who they say was captured on surveillance video. He was seen wearing a grey coat, dark pants and a black balaclava.

Since police identified an eighth victim of the shooting, the charges against Mohamod, Ibrahim and Osman were revised to reflect that new information.
