Teenage girl fatally stabbed downtown: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say a teenage girl was killed following a stabbing downtown Friday afternoon.

The Winnipeg Police Service says officers were called to Graham Avenue and Fort Street around 1 p.m.

Officers say they arrived to find a girl suffering from stab wounds. The responding officers applied a chest seal before paramedics arrived.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery, police say. She died of her injuries.

“This is a busy thoroughfare for transit, there were a lot of people around,” said WPS Const. Claude Chancy. “A lot of people were there and witnessed the incident.”

No arrests have been made.

The WPS homicide unit is investigating.
