Winnipeg expected to reach extremely cold overnight temperatures

As Winnipeg is expected to reach extremely cold temperatures overnight, the City is reminding residents to take precautions.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), overnight windchills are expected to reach -27°C.

Winnipeggers are reminded to not spend too much time outside, especially older adults, young children, and pets. It is also advised to check on those who live alone.

The City says it is also important to recognize symptoms of hypothermia, which include: confusion, shivering, difficulty speaking, sleepiness, and stiff muscles.

If you or someone you know is suffering from these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention as severe hypothermia can be life-threatening.

The City of Winnipeg will have facilities open where residents can warm up during cold days.
