Three men charged for threatening to shoot up Winnipeg lounge Tuesday

Winnipeg police say three people have been charged following a gun complaint that led to a drug bust Tuesday.

Just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, WPS officers responded to a report of a gun at a lounge along Pembina Highway near Grant Avenue.

Police say before officers arrived, an argument and altercation began between three men over a VLT machine. The altercation led to two of the men threatening to shoot up the lounge before they fled the scene.

Police say a short time later, the two men returned with a third man, all armed with guns. WPS did not confirm what happened when the three men returned but noted that no one was injured, and the suspects reportedly fled in a vehicle.

Police were able to locate the vehicle along Weatherdon Avenue, and were able to take all three men into custody.

Following the arrests, officers conducted a search of the vehicle, where they found and seized the following items:

  • 2 kilograms of cocaine – estimated street value $60,000;
  • 1 ounce of fentanyl – estimated street value $3,000;
  • 100 oxycontin tablets – estimated street value $4,000;
  • Approximately $10,000 Canadian currency;
  • And two 3D-printed handguns and ammunition (one firearm was loaded).

Police say a 21-year-old, 19-year-old, and 18-year-old have since been charged with 15 charges, including possession of a firearm, possession of a scheduled substance, and uttering threats.
