RCMP issue tips to keep everyone safe this Halloween

Manitoba RCMP are reminding the public to be safe this Halloween.

Tips were provided by Mounties on how trick-or-treaters, homeowners, and drivers can all help to ensure everyone stays as safe as possible.

Trick-or-treaters are encouraged to wear visible costumes, travel in groups, stay on sidewalks, and watch for cars when crossing roads.

At the end of the night, it is recommended to have an adult check all candy and discard any open or suspicious-looking goodies.

Homeowners are encouraged to have clear and illuminated pathways.

In addition, if you are using candles, place them far from flammable materials and always monitor them.

Lastly, RCMP say homeowners should stick to offering store-bought, sealed candies to ensure they’re safe for consumption.

As for drivers, Mounties say to drive slower than normal, especially in areas where children might be trick-or-treating. And as always, never drive impaired.
