Winnipeg police investigating series of serious incidents across 3 days

Winnipeg police says there were various serious incidents over the past few days that officers are investigating.

The weekend started off with Winnipeg police responding to a weapons complaint in the Forks Market around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 29.

Police responded to a report that two security guards had been bear sprayed by a group of teens.

After allegedly spraying the security guards, the teens ran from the scene. Officers were able to locate two of the teens and took them into custody.

Upon searching them, police found and seized a can of bear spray and a machete.

Police say a 14-year-old teen has since been charged.

WPS says around 9 p.m., on Sept. 30, officers were alerted by a hospital that a man can come in after being stabbed.

Police learned the 50-year-old was in the Vimy Park area when the incident occurred.

Since attending the hospital, the man’s condition has been upgraded from serious injuries. At this time no arrests have been made.

Sunday, Winnipeg police responded to a report of a robbery in the Forks Market.

Police say around 1:30 a.m., two security guards were confronted and assaulted by three or four men.

During the assault, one of the guards was robbed of his phone. Police say he was also taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police were able to find two men in their 20s who are believed to be linked to the assault. Both have since been charged with assault and robbery-related charges.

WPS says around 1 p.m., on Oct. 1, officers responded to a report of a shooting near Pritchard Avenue and McGregor Street.

Police say a man in his 30s was taken to hospital in unstable condition, and he has since been upgraded to stable. At this time no arrests have been made.

Around 11:15 a.m. on Monday, Winnipeg police responded to a report of a stabbing on Langside Street near Ellice Avenue.

Police say a woman in her 40s was taken to hospital in unstable condition and has since upgraded to stable. At this time no arrests have been made.

Lastly, around 1:30 p.m., on Oct. 2, WPS responded to a bomb threat at a storage locker in the Whittier neighbourhood.

The report indicated that someone found what appeared to be an explosive device within a storage container, that they had recently taken over after it was abandoned.

The WPS bomb unit was called in and was able to confirm that the device was not live, and that there was no threat to the public.
