A 64-year-old man was not injured after a plane crash near the Manitoba-Ontario border Sunday afternoon.

Island Lake RCMP say they received a report of a plane crash near the Red Sucker Lake airport around 1 p.m.

Police say a plane passing over noticed the downed plane and reported it.

RCMP say officers secured a Customs Helicopter to assist. Two RCMP officers an a pilot located the plane.

“Due to the bog, the helicopter could not land, but was able to hover just above the ground long enough to bring the pilot to safety,” RCMP said in a news release.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified, police say.
