Ridge Meadows RCMP officer killed in line of duty in Coquitlam

A Ridge Meadows RCMP officer has died, while two others, along with a suspect are injured after an incident in Coquitlam Friday morning.
The BC RCMP says officers were searching a home near Pinetree Way and Glen Drive when an “altercation with a man” led to multiple officers being injured and the man being shot.
Mounties say one of the officers succumbed to their injuries, while the two others, along with the suspect, were taken to the hospital.
The BC RCMP says it has informed the Independent Investigations Office of BC, which will investigate the actions of police.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation has been deployed and will look into the officer’s death and the injuries to the others.
Officials with the BC RCMP will be holding a media availability at 4:30 p.m. from their headquarters in Surrey.
