Police rescue injured hiker in Whiteshell Provincial Park

Mounties say an injured 59-year-old hiker was rescued from Whiteshell Provincial Park Monday.

Falcon Beach RCMP say they responded to an SOS beacon from the injured man around 4:50 p.m. on the Mantario Trail near Caribou Lake

Police say three officers responded and obtained the GPS coordinates from the SOS beacon

ATVs and a boat were needed to reach the hiker, according to RCMP. He was located and brought to safety.

Two officers sustained minor injuries during the rescue.

The hiker was checked by EMS and cleared.
