Winnipeg man fires shotgun at Meadows West home after altercation: police

Police say a Winnipeg man fired a shotgun late Sunday at a home he believed was linked to a man he got into an altercation with earlier that night.

The Winnipeg Police Service says officers responded to the report of numerous shots fired into a home in the Meadows West neighbourhood around 11 p.m.

Police say there was nobody inside the home.

The male suspect and a woman were later arrested at home on Roblin Boulevard near Municipal Road.

Investigators with the major crimes unit believe the accused man and women were previously at an outdoor gathering.

“While possessing a shotgun, the accused got into an altercation with another known male,” police said in a news release. “During this incident, the accused threatened to kill the male, shot a round off in the air, and then drove away with the female co-accused.

“From there, the two drove by the Meadows West residence, where the male accused shot at a residence he believed was linked to the male from the earlier altercation.”

Christopher Jordan Eaton, 36, was charged with multiple offences, unclding discharging a firearm with intent and uttering threats (cause death or bodily harm). He was detained in custody.

A 30-year-old Winnipeg woman is facing firearm-related charges. She was released on an undertaking.
