7 charged in $2.39M drug busts in July: Winnipeg police
Winnipeg police say seven people have been charged in connection to a pair of drug busts worth $2.39 million.
The WPS says in June and July, officers of the Guns and Gangs and Drug Enforcement Units began looking into reports that methamphetamine and fentanyl were being trafficked around the city.
Throughout the investigation, police were able to identify several suspects and locations of interest.

On July 27, police searched a home along Sherburn Street, saying they found and seized the following:
- Approximately 28 kilograms of Methamphetamine (Worth roughly $1,400,000);
- Approximately 2.7 kilograms of Cocaine (Worth roughly $270,000);
- Approximately 5.7 kilograms of Cannabis (Worth roughly $20,000);
- Approximately 4.2 kilograms of Edibles (Worth roughly $63,000 );
- Approximately 18 kilograms of Cannabis ‘Shake’;
- Packaging material for Edibles;
- Moulds for Edibles; and
- Taser.
At the time, a 57-year-old man from Stornoway, Quebec, and a 46-year-old woman from Winnipeg were taken into custody. Both have since been charged with multiple drug trafficking, drug production, and weapons-related charges.
The WPS says additional homes along Qu’Appelle Avenue, Cumberland Avenue, and an unnamed location were searched. During the searches, police say they found and seized the following:
- A loaded 9mm Glock Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number;
- A loaded 3D-Printed 9mm Polymer Firearm without a Serial Number;
- 9 mm Ammunition;
- Roughly 3 ounces of Fentanyl (Worth roughly $34,000);
- Roughly 6.7 kilograms of Methamphetamine (Worth roughly $335,000);
- Roughly 2.6 kilograms of Cocaine (Worth roughly $266,000);
- Roughy 1 ounce of Crack Cocaine (Worth roughly $2,200);
- Digital Scales;
- Cellular phones; and
- Packaging Materials.

Two 47-year-old men, two 33-year-old men, and a 53-year-old woman, all from Winnipeg, were taken into custody in connection following these searches.
All five have since been charged with multiple trafficking, proceeds of crime, and firearms-related offences.
Winnipeg police say the investigations are ongoing.
