8 teens arrested, imitation gun seized after Polo Park mall assault: WPS

By News Staff

Winnipeg police say eight teenagers have been arrested after three other teens were robbed and assaulted at Polo Park mall last week.

Police say two 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy were assaulted and one had his cellphone stolen after getting into a verbal argument with another group Friday around 6 p.m.

Investigators allege one of the accused presented a concealed firearm before the assault.

The teens went into a store in the mall afterward to seek safety. Police say they suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

Police were able to track down the group who allegedly assaulted the boys and found a large knife and a Glock 19 CO2 imitation firearm.

Eight youths between the ages of 13 and 17 have been charged.

The victims and the suspects were not previously known to one another.
