Liquor Marts remain closed as union pushes back on independent conciliator recommendations

Manitoba liquor stores remained closed Tuesday and distribution continued to be interrupted as the union representing workers stuck to their original demands.
The Manitoba Government Employees Union (MGEU) has pushed back against recommendations from an independent conciliator that the strike end and both parties proceed to binding arbitration.

The union says they will only proceed if the arbitrator is bound to the minimum general wage increases they’ve asked for.
Liquor store workers have been on strike since July 19.
