Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) says on Friday around 7 p.m., officers responded to a report of the collision at the intersection of McGillivray Boulevard and Beaumont Street.

When officers arrived, they found an off-duty officer already at the scene treating the motorcycle rider.

The motorcycle driver who has been described as a 28-year-old man, was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

Through initial stages of the investigation, WPS learned the motorcycle was traveling west McGillivray Boulevard from Pembina Highway when it collided with a vehicle at Beaumont Street.

Police say everyone in the second vehicle were uninjured.

At this time, it is believed the rider’s manner of driving is a significant contributing factor in the collision.
