Police watchdog investigating circumstances of Winnipeg collision

Manitoba’s police watchdog is investigating a serious collision in Winnipeg that resulted in three people going to the hospital Monday morning.

RCMP say the collision occurred after officers tried to conduct a traffic stop along Inkster Boulevard just before 1:30 a.m.

Mounties say the vehicle in question sped away before it collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Keewatin Street.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the vehicle Mounties tried to pull over, and two people in the other vehicle, were injured and taken to Health Sciences Centre.

RCMP alerted the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU), as injuries fall within outlined regulations by the police watchdog.

The IIU is asking if anyone has any information regarding the collision, to contact investigators at 1-844-667-6060.
