Woman charged after 6-year-old stabbed: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police have charged a woman for attempted murder after a six-year-old was stabbed in the Burrows/Central neighbourhood Wednesday.

WPS say around 12 p.m., officers responded to a report that a child had been stabbed.

When police arrived, they found a six-year-old boy suffering from serious injuries.

Officers reportedly started life-saving measures, which included using a chest seal, before paramedics arrived.

The boy was then taken to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable.

Police say a 20-year-old woman was taken into custody at the scene and has since been charged.

She’s facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon.

The woman and the boy are confirmed to know each other, and police are not releasing either identity for the boy’s privacy.

WPS say the Child Abuse Units has taken over the investigation.
