By News Staff

A Winnipeg woman has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a Point Douglas homicide investigation.

The Winnipeg Police Service says 40-year-old Rebecca Marina Flett was arrested and charged July 4. She was detained in custody.

Flett was wanted by police following an incident on the morning of June 26. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a medical situation on Henry Avenue in Point Douglas, and found a person dead in a suite of a multi-room house.

The victim, who has since been identified as 28-year-old Falin Johnston of Winnipeg, was taken to hospital, where an autopsy determined her death was a homicide.

Investigators believe the accused and victim were in an altercation, when the victim was “knocked to the ground, striking her head.”
