Winnipeg police need help identifying a man after he was allegedly killed by a suspect they arrested Tuesday.
Officers say they began investigating the unknown man’s “suspicious” death in the South Point Douglas neighbourhood.
During the investigation, police received a call on May 2 from the fire department, saying it found a 31-year-old man stabbed near Sargent Avenue and Furby Street.
He was taken to hospital in unstable condition with upper body injuries due to the stabbing. He has since been upgraded to stable condition.
However, investigators say he would not cooperate with them.
At that time, officers identified and attended an “involved residence” in the 500 block of Furby Street, where they arrested a man in the hallway after a “use-of-force encounter.”
The same suspect is believed to be involved in an earlier stabbing on April 26, which happened on the 100 block of Henry Avenue.
At the time, a 51-year-old man was taken to hospital in unstable condition, later upgraded to stable.
Police then placed the suspect, 23-year-old Winnipeg man Tyler Mann under arrest on May 3 while he was in custody for his involvement in the cases mentioned.
He faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, assault causing bodily harm, assault of a peace officer, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Meanwhile, the unknown victim is described as 6′ tall, having no upper teeth, and having undergone a facial medical procedure.
Anyone with information or residential/commercial video surveillance footage that may assist homicide investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
