Winnipeg police investigating fatal garage fire

Winnipeg police are investigating a fatal garage fire that occurred in north Winnipeg Friday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services (WFPS) responded to a garage fire along the 500 block of Mountain Avenue.

While battling the fire, WPFS members found a body in the garage and contacted police.

Winnipeg Police Service’s (WPS) Major Crimes Unit has since begun an investigation.

WFPS and WPS say the body has since been transported to a hospital for an autopsy.
