A 13-year-old boy was among the three people arrested by Winnipeg police in connection with a series of bear spray attacks in St. Vital Monday night.

An 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were also taken into custody.

They are facing numerous assault-related and resisting arrest charges.

Police say they received reports of three assaults involving bear spray in the St. Vital area Monday between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

The WPS alleges the three individuals bear sprayed a convenience store employee in the face.

“Once outside the store, the group donned ski masks, sprayed a second unknown victim in the face, and fled on foot,” WPS said.

Police allege a third unknown victim was confronted by the same suspects and sprayed in the face. They again fled on foot.

Winnipeg police say they located the three suspects running through a parking lot. They say three officers and a police service dog were sprayed in the face.

Paramedics treated the three victims and the officers due to bear spray contamination. The affected police dog was decontaminated by their handler, police say.
