The wait is finally over. Zellers has reopened its doors at St. Vital Centre in Winnipeg, bringing a wave of nostalgia and excitement for shoppers.

“I think that’s what we’re all about, we’re all about getting a piece of nostalgia back and experiencing Zellers,” said Roxanne Loewen, the marketing manager at St. Vital Centre.

“We had a really great opening, over a hundred people lined up at the beginning of the day. Just a lot of positivity and a lot of excitement.”

Located on the second floor of the Bay, it’s currently the only Zellers in the province.

“It’s a store within a store,” explained Loewen .”We’re looking at a Zellers concept within Hudson’s Bay.”

Most of the stores vanished in 2011 when Target expanded to Canada. But earlier this year, the Canadian retailer announced they will be reopening its doors and coming to 25 locations across the country.

The pop-up shops will all be located inside Bay stores. And shoppers will also be able to shop online.

Some Winnipeggers that CityNews spoke to said they were excited to have the store back.

“We actually found out that Zellers is back in town and we wanted to see ourselves. It’s nice to have it back again,” said one Winnipegger.

Another saying, “It’s nice to reminisce, it’s nostalgic.”
