Winnipeg teen charged following robbery

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) has charged a 16-year-old from Winnipeg in connection to a robbery on March 19.

WPS says, around 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery and assault along the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the victim, a woman in her 20s, who said she was approached by a man carrying a machete and bear spray, and he demanded money.

According to the woman, after handing over her money, she was punched in the face and the man ran off to a nearby house.

Police say they found the teen hiding in a house and he was taken into custody.

He has since been charged with robbery and failing to comply with a release order.
