Woman charged after stabbing man with hypodermic needle: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police have charged a woman with assault after a 60-year-old man was stabbed with a hypodermic needle on Sunday.

WPS say the incident happened at around noon at a restaurant in the 1600 block of Regent Avenue.

When officers arrived at the restaurant, they found the man and the woman still at the scene. Officers noted the woman appeared to be intoxicated.

The man told officers that while waiting in line to order food, he was stabbed from behind with a hypodermic needle by the woman.

The 34-year-old woman was taken into custody and has since been charged with assault and failing to comply with a release order.

Police say the man has received medical attention as a precaution.
