Police revive woman after possible opioid overdose in bus shelter outside city hall: WPS

By News Staff

A Winnipeg woman was hospitalized Saturday after a possible opioid overdose was prevented by a Good Samaritan’s intervention.

The 28-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.

The Winnipeg Police Service says an individual flagged down WPS cadets Saturday around 11:20 a.m. and pointed them to a bus shelter at Main Street and William Avenue.

WPS members say they located the woman “unconscious and unresponsive,” and assessed it was a possible opioid overdose.

A field training officer allegedly administered a dose of Narcan Nasal Spray (Naloxone) before the ambulance arrived. Cadet members administered five extra doses of Naloxone, according to police.

Police say the woman regained consciousness as a result.
