2 hospitalized after ‘unsafe levels’ of carbon monoxide in North Kildonan duplex

Two people were hospitalized after being exposed to “unsafe levels” of carbon monoxide in a two-storey duplex in North Kildonan Sunday morning.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service says it responded to a reports of activated carbon monoxide alarms around 7:20 a.m.

Crews discovered both suites of the duplex on Callum Crescent had high readings of carbon monoxide – as high as 600 parts per million.

Residents from one of the suites evacuated before WFPS arrived on the scene. Crews evacuated the second suite.

Two residents were treated by paramedics at the scene. They were then taken to hospital in stable condition.

Fire crews ventilated the building.

Manitoba Hydro attended the scene to address the source of the carbon monoxide and make repairs.
