Advocates calling for safe supply and more harm reduction supports in Manitoba will be honouring those lost to the overdose crisis this week.
They’ll be using the image of a black balloon to raise awareness and call for change.
Monday’s event, hosted by Overdose Awareness Manitoba and Moms Stop the Harm, will see loved ones sharing their stories online with the image of those lost to the crisis against the backdrop of a black balloon.
Members of the public who have lost someone to the crisis are invited to participate by sharing their own story via social media.
People can also leave their black balloon card at the memorial garden honouring overdose victims on Waterfront Drive.
It’s the event’s fifth year in Winnipeg.
There were more than 377 drug-toxicity deaths recorded in Manitoba last year.
