Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) says officers are investigating an assault that occurred Thursday afternoon in the Silver Heights neighbourhood.
WPS adds officers responded to the intersection of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue after receiving a report that a man had been stabbed by a machete.
When officers arrived, they found a 50-year-old suffering from lower-body injuries. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition, where surgery was performed on his leg.
Officers believe that both the suspect and the victim got off a bus prior to the stabbing.
